Michele Holmes
Michele Holmes is an educator and co-founder of Homeschool Directive with two decades of experience home educating her eight children.
She works closely with families to design personalized and flexible learning experiences and is deeply committed to supporting parents in creating engaging, confidence-building environments for their children. She helps families translate educational vision into clear, supportive, and practical pathways they can confidently implement.
Patricia Sprenger
Patricia Sprenger is an educator, researcher, and co-founder of Homeschool Directive with over a decade of experience home educating her own children.
She holds a Master of Liberal Studies with a concentration in interdisciplinary education and is deeply engaged in the learning sciences. She works closely with families to design joy-filled, deeply meaningful learning experiences, empowering parents to embrace thoughtfully designed, personalized pathways that honor each child. Her work also expands access to alternative pathways into higher education.

I created Homeschool Directive not because I had all the answers, but because I knew parents needed a system that made sense—one that worked in real life, not just on paper. This program was built at the kitchen table, not a boardroom.

When Michele first faced homeschooling high school, she experienced the doubts and concerns familiar to many parents—wondering if she could truly prepare her children for life after graduation.
Deeply inspired by education innovators who promoted learning tailored to each child’s strengths and interests, Michele recognized the critical need for a flexible and personalized education system that genuinely supports diverse learning styles.
Michele had already successfully applied a multi-dimensional learning approach throughout the elementary and middle school years, allowing her children to explore learning from various angles.
However, as high school approached, she noticed a significant shift within the homeschool community toward adopting a ‘traditional school at home’ model—structured, curriculum-driven, test-focused, and less reflective of authentic, individualized learning. She realized that conventional methods of documenting education didn’t align with the rich, authentic learning experiences happening at home. This led Michele to develop a more robust and refined version of her existing approach, narrowing it down to five clear pathways.
